The Airframe Paint Assistant, with immediate supervision, learns and performs basic resealing and paint touch-up of aircraft surfaces following aircraft maintenance according to manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures and customer specifications using proper tooling, Personal Protection Equipment and Fall Protection in a safe and clean environment. This position performs basic stripping and smoothing of aircraft surfaces using chemical and mechanical methods; and prepares and completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
Essential Job Functions
1. With immediate supervision and OJT, learns and performs resealing of panels and other surfaces on aircraft using manufacturer's specified sealant and Duncan approved procedures.
2. With immediate supervision, learns and performs paint touch-up work in accordance with Duncan Aviation approved procedures.
3. With immediate supervision learns and performs the removal of old paint with approved paint removers and prepares surfaces of aircraft for painting applications by sanding, etching, masking, etc. using approved methods.
4. With immediate supervision, prepares various documents for record keeping purposes, as required by Company policy and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, W.O. Sheets, personal training log).
5. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified; Man Lift qualified; tool inventory per department tool list required
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
- Physical: Reads small print; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
- Environmental: Tolerates extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education and Experience
- High School education or equivalent required
- Previous mechanical or auto body work experience preferred
