The Senior Tax Accountant leads the Company’s tax efforts in the areas of income tax, sales and use tax, local tax, property tax, and associated tax regulations.  This position will also help with other general ledger projects and the reconciliation of certain accounts.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Performs tax planning duties for the corporation. Prepares various tax schedules.  Reviews fixed assets.  Advises on tax planning opportunities.  Researches various tax issues.
  1. Prepares various general ledger account reconciliations, including the Duncan Aviation Service Plan (DASP program).
  1. Review sales and use tax returns for proper filing. Periodically review the taxability of invoices for proper handling.  Also, file sales and use tax returns as required.
  1. Assists in estate planning for the various Duncan family members.
  1. Assists the Controller in administering the various state tax incentive plans. Assist in managing state and federal tax audits.
  1. Prepare tax estimates by reviewing historic, current, and future financial information. Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues
  1. Maintain current legislative knowledge by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws
  1. Recommend procedures that will continue to streamline and improve workflow. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations; meeting or exceeding continuing professional education requirements
  1. Accomplish accounting and organizational mission by completing related projects as needed
  1. Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates:  CPA preferred, but not required
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required, remote work available
  • Physical: Reads small print, repetitive motion; tolerates sitting; proficient typing and data entry skills
  • Environmental: N/A    

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in Taxation, Finance, Accounting, or Economics required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) required
  • General accounting knowledge required
  • Previous tax experience required
