The Intern - Continuous Improvement (CI) will support functions and projects for the Continuous Improvement team. With supervision, this position evaluates continuous improvement opportunities, facilitates changes within a team environment, uses data and analysis to make decisions with guidance, and implements continuous improvement ideas.  In addition, the CI Intern demonstrates a high level of commitment to safety, customer service, and satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Manage daily tasks related to Duncan Aviation’s Continuous Improvement program (Ideas). Review and follow up on submitted Ideas, partner with Continuous Improvement committees, and assist with implementation of Ideas where applicable.
  1. Lead a Continuous Improvement Project(s) which supports the various departments and disciplines. With assistance, create a charter for the project, align with management on scope, facilitate meetings, and drive/assist with implementation of the project.
  1. Set up and deploy recognition and/or special events in support of the Continuous Improvement Ideas program.
  1. Plan and deploy brainstorming session(s) related to Innovation at Duncan Aviation.   
  1. Develop reporting to measure the progress on projects, internal metrics, and the Ideas program. Utilize reporting to make suggestions for improvement and continuous improvement projects.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Current enrollment in a/an Engineering or Business Administration degree program with focus on Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Process Improvement or Continuous Improvement Preferred; with a junior or senior level standing
  • Experience working well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with typing and data entry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) required
