With limited supervision, the Satellite Sheetmetal Tech II fabricates and installs aircraft parts and assemblies in accordance with FAA requirements, GDMR-101, DUN-A-1, and other approved procedures in a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Essential Job Functions

1. With limited supervision, fabricates parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers from sheet metal, stainless steel, and composites using correct fasteners in accordance with the DUN-A-1 and other related approved documents and procedures.

2. With limited supervision, installs fabricated parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers in specified aircraft locations in pressurized and non-pressurized aircraft. Identifies engineering discrepancies and works with Satellite Leadership and Engineering team members to find alternate solutions as needed.  Identifies locations for secondary avionics system components such as relays, terminal strips, terminal blocks, heat sinks, etc. Displays adequate troubleshooting skills.

3. With limited supervision, disassembles and reassembles aircraft interior, instrument panels, and avionics equipment bays prior to and/or following the installation of aircraft, using proper handling and storage techniques.

4. With limited supervision, performs appropriate corrosion control process upon completion of parts and fixtures before installation in aircraft.

5. With limited supervision, enters a description of work completed on the work order and other required paperwork, documents all removal and installation of aircraft parts and accessories according to Installation procedures, and maintains personal training log.

6. Demonstrates knowledge and use of technical reference materials, i.e., aircraft technical manuals, parts catalogs, fabrication and specification manuals, and AC 43-13.

7. Maintains current industry, equipment, and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes OJT and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications, FAR’s, etc. Assists lesser-experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and the FAR’s.

8. Available to work all department alternate shifts as needed and accomplish road trips within the United States and other countries as needed.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

• Licenses/Certificates: Respirator fit eligible. Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving records
• Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
• Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; works in confined spaces; works in heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
• Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments     

Education and Experience

• High School graduate or equivalent required
• Two years previous sheetmetal, aircraft structures, fabrication or related experience required
